New News

I know you're probably awaiting pictures, but I have none
to show today...Just an update. Thursday the floor guys
came in for the final time and dyed the floors. We came
in on Thursday night and waxed them and buffed them out.
Needless to say.....we have a "MUST wear Shoes" policy
in our home !! Our floors are dangerously slick right now
from the polishing, waxing, & buffing that's been done to
them. So if you come to visit, use CAUTION !! ha,ha
Saturday morning we got an early start on moving the
lower cabinets down to the house. They were heavy, but
thanks to Justin for helping and the carpet pads for sliding
them to the proper place made it alot earier. The plumber
is coming in from Nebraska to work on Sunday so that's why
we needed them in place. Billy (the plumber) started on
Sunday afternoon hooking everything up that could be.
All of our countertops and vanities are Concrete so the
sinks couldn't be set due to the fact that they have to be
poured in place. The shower's are done (except for the
doors..which are ordered), the toilets are set, and the
hot water heaters are in place and working. Cabinet doors
are in the floor waiting to be put on this week & maybe
we'll start on the countertops, as this will be a long and
trying process. Ha,ha OH, almost forgot, we've also
got to start on the bar cabinet in place since it's the last
cabinet to make. Lot's going on right now at the house.
We've also been working in the dirt work for the yard the
last couple of evenings when the sun goes down. It's almost
ready for some sod. Our friend Darrell, is gone now to North
Arkansas to pick up the stone for the retaining wall & steps.
Our stone is ordered for the fireplace, bar, exterior corners
of the house & the pedestal bottoms where the trees are.
Whoooooo.....and that's all folks !! We're tired and wearing
out day by day. Keep us in your prayers the next few weeks
as we finish up !! Don't worry.....we're not your normal couple
when it comes to building houses. We're so much alike and we
like the same things, so there's no arguing here !!! We would
probably tackle another one, if need be.....but I don't think
there's a need !! ha ha

Showers R Done !

We had some excellent guys working on our showers
this past week. They are originally from Romania, but make
their home now in Hot Springs. They started on the showers
Tuesday morning and after working many late nights and
early mornings they finished on Sunday Morning around 1:30 a.m.
The showers are made of Slate Rock materials and are somewhat
difficult to handle and install. We are very pleased how they
turned out, and can't wait for them to do our kitchen
backsplash & rock on the fireplace and exterior of the house.

Happy Birthday !

Melba & Jaycee (her grandaughter) LaJuana Happy LATE Birthday to my Mother-in-law, LaJuana, on
May 26 and to Doy's Aunt Melba, June 13, that lives
in El Paso, TX. We Love You Both !

They're Finally Finished

These are a few pictures taken this weekend as we
finished up the last process on the cabinets before hanging
them in the house. As you can tell, our shop is filled w/ base
cabinets, drawers, doors, etc...As hot as it was outside, we had to
stain and final coat these under the side shed of the house (the only shade
we had) and then bring them in and out of the shop to
finish drying. Then on Sunday we had to sand them for the
up-teenth time and apply the final coat of sealer. I've never
been so tired of cabinets in my life. Now I know why they
are soooooo expensive !!

Cabinets

Before During
After
We got our first cabinets hung in the kitchen ! Now we
can start seeing how the kitchen is going to look. More work
ahead.

Decorative Iron

On the Cypress Beams in the house, Doy built some
iron pieces to help strengthen the beams and to keep them
from warping when they dry completely.

Memorial Day Weekend

BEFORE AFTER We spent the entire Holiday Weekend working on the exterior of the house. We needed to get it stained and sealed before it got anymore weather on it. I ran the tractor w/ the bucket on it and raised Doy up & down ! I think I made him a little nervous !! ha,ha
